Two weeks agon I went out and found my Optima Red Top battery of 2 years old had died. So I thought that Ok, it was just the luck of the draw that it went bad. I purchaed a brand new Optima 75/25 Battery and, I do keep my 2003 on a trickle charger if I'm not using my car for 2 weekks or more. I checked the charge once installed, @ 12.73 volts and I took the charger off (It is NOCO Genius-1 charger set on AMG and it has a small red/orange/green light to indicate the charge leval. I left it on overnight and the next moring I measured again and it had 12.75 volts, I saw something about the AMG batteries that suggested the new AGM battery needs to discharge once or twice down to 11.8 Volts to condition the battery to acept a higher voltage Truth or Not ?
Perhaps I'm a little confused. I just thougfht that it's resistens to taking a greater charge out of the box. I had a Red Top 75/25 in my last C5 and it was fine for 4 years, which is about the most I've ever seen any battery lasted !
