2003 coupe, 54kkm. Easily driven. I the steering rack seal failure a common problem. I have not seen it on this forum, and have not heard others complain of this problem???
Mine had a little leak that gradually added fluid to the bellows, which I noticed @ 75k miles. So I decided to rebuild it, and along the way took a bunch of pictures and made a DIY: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...n-rebuild.html
I believe it is generally a problem with the Corvette racks, but I'm sure there are plenty that don't ever leak. I had my factory unit leaking and bought a used low mile unit that was also leaking. I sent the used one with 20K miles to Turn 1 and put my spare in the box if I ever needed to send another for rebuild. There is athread here that the author found the seals and tools and rebuilt his own.

Perhaps that was posted in the post preceding yours?
Its one of the weaker parts of the car. If you start tracking or autocrossing the car you are probably going to blow stock racks and pumps. If you have time, I'd take it out and send it to turnone. Its about the same cost as buying a rebuilt rack, but they are way better. If you don't want to lose racks make sure you have a power steering cooler. The one off the z51 or z06 is typically okay, but it might just as easy to plumb in a better plate cooler. Even if you're not pushing it too much I'd do the cooler when you put in a rack. FWIW it is possible to rebuild it yourself fairly cheap. Just a bit of a project.
