Hello, I bought a 2003 50th convertible new. It just rolled 28,000 miles. The ride has gotten terrible, like the Mag Ride has failed, but I’m not getting a “service ride control” warning, nor do I see leaks around the shocks. When it had about 500 miles, I took it into the dealer, and they removed the blocks. Any ideas? Fixes? Thanks in advance.
Even though you have low miles, the car is still 21 years old...if you have seen my other posts, you know what I am going to say, program out F55 and get OEM GM C6 Z06 shocks.

LOL!! I have seen those posts. I was puzzled why I didn’t get an error message on the dash. I’m guessing that’s the way I wi;; go. If a Tech2 is plugged in, do you think the error code will show up?

What do you mean by "the ride has gotten terrible". Is it bottoming out and soft like.its not working or is it super stiff like when the shock stuffers were still installed.

The ride is like there are no shocks at all, like the ride control is not working. Feels like the car is “lying “ on the ground.

Is it possible the ride control computer has failed, and not the shocks? If so, how who would check that that is the issue?
I have a 2003 50th convertible which rode very hard, but the tires with the orignal Goodyears, once I swaped out for all new General G-Max RS and I had to replace the 2 front shocks ( Yeah I like the F55 suspension ) But with new tires and the shocks it has really soften up the ride. and :" its not working or is it super stiff like when the shock stuffers were still installed" this is what happens and I have seen this this issue a number of times . This is why Chevrolet is forming a Corvette only brand ! when you pay minimun wage this what you get.

I just installed a new set of OEM Goodyears. The ride is like driving a vehicle that has air ride, with the airbags not inflated. There are no warning messages on the dash. The shocks seem to be dry, not leaking. I don’t get it. Just curious, did you get an error message that prompted you to change the 2 shocks? Where did you get them, and what did they cost?

Had the car on the hoist yesterday. All shocks are leaking, but not badly. We plugged it into a scanner (not a Tech2), and took a ride.It feels like the mag ride is not working. The mechanic could see the dampeners data change, and could see the changes when the ride control switch was changed from Tour to Sport. There was something called the “body angle” which read “inactive”, and could not be turned on. We unplugged 1 of the front shocks. We still didn’t get a warning message in the dash. Also, there were no codes active, or stored that we could see with his scanner (Snap On). Any thoughts before I take it to the dealership, and get the $6K bad news?? Thanks

Yep. Save yourself $5k and have bilsteins installed and deactivate the mag ride option.
I agree, but I’d like to know for sure the shocks are actually bad, and it’s not something simple before I get rid of the mag ride. Does anyone know if the scanner has to be a Tech 2 to “see” any codes for the suspension?

I'm confused. You said all the shocks were leaking. That is a sign of failure. What am I missing?

From what other posters (and GM) have said, is that all the mag shocks “leak”. They have even published bulletins with pictures showing how much leakage is “normal”. Mine don’t look to have excessive leaks. I just want to make sure they are the problem before yanking them out, spending big $$, only to find out what the real problem us.
