I'm still mulling over some cam upgrade options - anyone running the MTI C1 (222/222/.565) on a 114LS? What springs? Dyno or trap speeds? These specs seem to be in the 'sweet spot' for a daily driver without going to big on duration or lift.
I would like to idle under 900, no throttle body drilling, small converter, 3.42s, small lope, no surging/stalling, stage 1 heads only, don't want to worry about valve springs breaking, shift at 6500, and still make some power. Thoughts? Thanks!
Hammer cam is pretty popular with theLS1 f-body guys. The ones I've heard have a fairly aggressive lope but tend to make just a bit less power than some of the other comparable aftermarket cams (from the dynographs I've seen). I've never heard of spring issues with this cam.
I have been looking at cams in this range, I would like opinions on the split duration cam verses the straight durations listed.
ex. INT-222 EXH-226 .567" LIFT, 113 LSA Will this cam make more usable power/torque.
My understanding is that the intake duration is the primary concern for matching a cam to motor size and duty. 222 to 224 should be max for trouble free 5.7l street use. Does the additional exhaust duration help to evecuate the cylinder? and this is a better match for a bottled up street exhaust system. What you think?
