I tried replacing just the bushings, but broke it at the guide/ bracket behind the shifter. Ordered the cable assembly from C&S corvettes. Replaced the cable without removing the center exhaust or the tunnel cover. It wasn’t easy but after looking it over I did it. The artist part actually was at the shifter area, trying to get the new assembly to slip back into the bracket, which is only about 6 to 8 inches behind the shifter.
My 2001 with 85k miles on it has a hard time going into park and it seems like it is back a little to far when in drive.
Has anyone else had this problem?
I had this problem, I jacked the back up and crawled under , everything looked good but when i reached up to the cable, it was a hair loose and i just snapped it up, then it was all tight.....
I fixed it finally. When I was in drive it would show 3rd. I lifted the car, and just adjusted the shifter cable in the rear. Took longer to lift the car then the fix.
Congrats, it’s definitely a great feeling when you fix your own car, and I’m not a mechanic at all. Not sure if you’re a mechanic. But congrats again. Local auto repair shops are charging 180 an hour now. I think some dealers around here are 200-225 an hour.
