White tach wire for shift light and/or window switch?
OK, I read the previous posts and saw some pictures, but I still can't find the tach wire.
Here's what I did: 1) I removed the passenger side carpet and bottom cover, 2) I removed the side panel, 3) I found three white thin wires going into a medium sized taped up harness, 4) I stripped each one individually and hooked up my Harlan shift light to the white wire and rev'd past the set rpm.
The result, nothing. The shift light flashes when I turn the ignition on so I know I have power and ground. I later pulled the panel that is under the dashboard. I saw that the medium sized harness goes into a huge harness. Do I have to cut open the tape on that harness and do the same thing, or should the light have worked with one of the white wires that was coming off or near the silver box (computer? - exuse the ignorance)?

Well, if you get tired of that route you can do it the old fashioned route. If you scroll half way down on this link you will see some pics I posted, click on them for larger view. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zerothread?id=380644

OK, I finally found the tach wire. After trying five thin white wires that didn't work (three from the bottom going into the medium sized harness and two from the huge harness above), I found the sixth skinny white wire hiding in the back of the huge wire harness and it worked.
Tip for those trying to find it, don't try to find the wire coming off the silver box (computer?). Instead, remove the panel underneath the glove box and you will see the huge wire harness (the biggest one). There are five white wires in that harness. Two are medium sized white wires (leave them alone), and three are thin white wires. One of the three thin white wires is the tach wire.

SlverStateZ06- thanks for the info! I'm waiting on Harlan to send me my shiftlight. Where did you mount yours? I would like to hide mine in the center A.C. duct. Any suggestions?? Thanks again!

I mounted it w/velcro in front of the airbag led to the right of the DIC. It doesn't obstruct the spedometer and doesn't obstruct the gas guage. It looks factory. I will try to take some pics soon, but I have a crazy week at work ahead of me.
