HELP!! Knock in the Rear....
Anyone had this problem? It's doesn't seem to be the suspension...I can tromp on the rear of the car and it won't make this sound. It's a knock in the right rear of the car that just kind of goes of intermittantly. I can pin it down to any situation really. Sometimes turns and at slower speeds (like taking off at a stop light) will increase it. It really does sound like someone is knocking on the rear quarter panel, or a pinging noise.
I've had it looked at several times for this in the last couple of months. They replaced the shock (though I told them it probably wasn't that) - but just to rule it out. The car was right back in with the same sound. They replaced the bushing and the rear control arm.
The car has sat for about two weeks (it's darn cold up here) and I took it out today and the noise is back with a vengence. Is this just a "cold knock" kind of thing b/c it has sat for a bit in freezing cold weather? Or is it back to the dealership? Anyone had to deal with this? :mad

Bummer! Have you checked the sway bar end links for torque? Limitted slip clutches in the diff? Loose exhaust system? Something rubbing in the wheel well? Good luck; I know it can be :banghead:

My first guesses would be loose exhaust, noisy bushing/loose sway bar/ bad bushing and possibly your rear hatch rattling.
Your profile didn't list if you have a stock exhaust or not. The stock exhaust system on the 2000s did have a problem with broken welds at the flanges located in front of the rear axle.
The rear sway bars are prone to a lot of weird noise. You can clean the sway bar where it contacts the bushings, lube the bushings with waterproof lithium and check the rubber bushings themselves for damage.
The rear hatch bumpers may be making noise. Try a little silicone on the tips. Also your rear hatch may be rattling, so check for the proper clearance after closing.
