I want to check my lifter preload in my 2000 C5. However, it has the alternator clutch pulley, rather than the conventional, and easily accessed, plain old nut. My understanding is this clutch acts similar to a sprag clutch, and you need a special tool to do this. Anyone tried doing this? Thank you.......
Thank you. So, if I'm reading your response right, all I need is a long T-50 Torx bit to spin the alternator pulley? I have no interest-at this point-to remove the clutch. I just want to turn the pulley to spin the crankshaft. Still, It may be cost effective to buy the entire kit, IDK.....

I would get the kit just in case you need the other tool. You never know how worn your decupler pulley is and like I said it's "T50 iirc" it's been a few years since I switched over to a 8 rib system with no decoupler pulley
