Default coolent temp

i have just had my 1st drive in my modded c5. ARE stage 2 headers, comp cam 224/224, flp exhaust sys( exh headers, high flo cats, xpipe and int pipes. also have ls6 manifold, 178 degree stat. haltric tric intake ,with carbon mag. ported th. body (breathless ) also have engine covered with carbon fiber pieces, including the full one which covers the fuel rails and the intake man. (one piece) on the first drive after a few mi the dic came on and said coolent temp and as i was driving it read the temps. temp ranged from 190 to 226. the 190 was at 2700rpm and as fluctuating betweem 190 & 198 . when i got home and parked it shot up to 226 and after i opened the hood it went down to 214 (still running) why would this come up on the dic??? is that normal temps??could heat 9 in the eng. bay ) be triggering a sensor??? any suggestions

Since I put in my t-stat mine never goes over 185, were your fans programmed to come on sooner?

:iagree:

The fellow above, who's temp never goes above because of a low temp thermo, has clearly never driven his car hard - or is always going down hill at 30* weather at 1500rpm in 5th gear.

I have a 178* thermo in my 2000 FRC and normal street driving it is between 185 and 200 depending on haw much I am into the throttle. At the track on a hot day the coolant temp will get into the 220-230 range while moving and go even higher when coming off the track before it starts to go down. Hope this helps.

So you are saying that while you are driving and the DIC is blank... all of a sudden the temps display themselves for no reason?
