Default No tractions until 50.

When are the nitto 18" drag radials going to be available. On a full tank of gas I cant hook up until after 50 at wot. I also get squirly at a 70 punch in second gear.

Me too! Anyone? What is the best solution for drag racing street traction? For 9 1/2" wheels and 10 1/2" rear wheeels. I know about CCW 11 1/2" with the huge Pilot Sports, but there has to be a close second with "factory" size wheels.

I can't hook that great on street tires with the cold roads here, I've been using my 315 drag radials as street tires when weather permits :yesnod:

NJVetteGuy,

Are you running the Nitto drag radials? If so, are they the 305/45 18's? If I purchased those tires for the rear, do I need any tubbing?

The 335s help alot when not in the boost, but can still break them loose virtually at will in the first 3 gears and some in 4th. There probably no answer on a 10.5" wheel unless you have an et street.

Hogurt, I'm running 315-35-17 BFG drag radials on Y2K 17X9.5 wheels. I also have a set on ZR1 wheels, and I hook the same on both so I don't think the wheel width hurts me at all. I used Nitto 275-40-17 D/Rs as my street tires for almost 7 months, they are as slippery as runflats until you drive on them a little and get some heat in them. With the TC install and headers planned for the next couple of weeks, I can kiss traction goodbye anyway

Ok, so it seems like I have two choices:

1. Z06 replica wheels with the C5 standard sizes 17x8.5 & 18x9.5 (Kuhmo Max performace tires).
2. Z06 replica wheels with the Z06 sizes 17x9.5 & 18x10.5 (BFG F1 tires)

When someone comes out with drag radials, I will them. . .until then, I will have no traction. . .should still be able to run in the low 12's. Any suggestions?

It's nutty to smoke the tires at that speed!

I have been in a friends LPE Car(434 N/A Engine, LOT O HP) and it boiled the tires at 90!! (G-Force T/A R1 tires)

There is nothing quite like it :)

Keep it safe.

Add a good H/C package with that s/c, headers and check your traction if you think it can't get worse. Mine will step out at 80mph if floored and I have an A4! You really have to relearn how to use the throttle with these setups.

Those tires are WAY TOO TALL for a Vette. Almost 29 inches tall. They will KILL your effective gearing.

Now they would be great for my Lightning, so if you have some which need a good home :D Let me know.
