Default Can a column lock bypass fail?

I need some help with my column lock bypass. (I have read through the column lock FAQ already)

The car (2001 Z06) had a column lock bypass installed 10ish years ago and it worked properly. The car sat in storage for the last 2 years with a dead battery. Now, When I start the car, I'm getting a "pull key for 10 seconds' message and a "service column lock" message. The car dies when I get over 2mph. I tried reinstalling the CLB following the proper installation instructions and I tried pulling the #25 fuse for 10 mins with no change.

Is it possible the CLB I have has failed? Where should I start on fixing the problem?

Anything electrical or mechanical can fail.

Post your codes.

If it’s an LMC unit, several members have had good experiences calling the company and getting recommendations.

I'm not sure what brand unit it is, it doesn't have any markings on it.

A CLB and LMC-5 are two different units that do the same thing.

The LMC-5 has a higher following today than the "old-guy" CLB.

Maybe.....remove the CLB and install the LMC-5.

Call Richard.................he knows, probably the best!

I had the LMC-5 and it worked for a while then issue returned. Discovered there's a "brown wire mod". After that mod, no more issues. Apparently the extra mod only needs to be done on some cars.

If LMC5, I would remve and see if corrects problem. Recall done many yrs ago but not 100%. It may work without the mod.
