T56 trans maintenance

I have purchased a used m12t56 from a wrecked car, there was no damage to the trans and it shifted fine when the car was driving. I'm doing my auto to manual swap journey and looking for some advice on what to do while the trans is out of the car. Also if someone knows what sensor that is broken in my pic would be helpful.

correct...reverse lockout is on top

If I'm going from auto to manual do I even need it? Any suggestions on what I do to refresh the trans before I put it in the car?

Not sure how the auto conversion is germane, as this is the CAGS for a manual transmission. I'm sure the previous owner defeated the system, and was too lazy to cap the connector on the solenoid.
