Default airbag light coming on

hi all, so over the past few weeks my 1998 C5 coupe airbag light has been sometimes coming on during the start up (not flashing as it normally does by comes on and stays on) and it will continue to stay on while driving it, this has been happening every 3-4 times i drive the car, and today it came on while driving after going over a bump in the road.
just looking for some guidance as what i should do, I'm guessing it will likely be a loose airbag connection? any other connections i should check or any other spots i should look at? and is their a way to tell if its the driver or passenger airbag? also note disconnecting the battery didn’t help

some additional info:
the C5 had the IPC and gauges replaced about 8 months ago i ended up using a 2001 or 2002 IPC and gauge cluster so because of this i had to "relocate" the airbag light from the bottom right to the top left(ish) section (its literally just putting the globe in a different slot) and the airbag light has been working fine ever since like doing the 6 or 7 flashes on the start up and then turning off.
i don’t have any error codes related the the airbag, the only code i do have is C1281 C "service vehicle soon" but i think its only giving this code as the previous car would of had active handling with a steering wheel position sensor and mine doesn’t have active handling so from what i understand it wont have this sensor so i guess thats why i would be getting this code?

anyway, any help or guidance would be amazing.

cheers!

The 97-98 airbag light is controlled by the SDM which supplies a ground . A 2002 SDM controls the airbag light via the class 2 serial buss.
A 97-98 SDM is NOT connected to the the serial data buss (star connector #1 and #2) it is only connected to the DLC connector. A 2002 SDM IS connected to the serial data buss at star connector #1. Even if you connect your 98 SDM to star connector number one, the SDM is not configured to control the airbag light on the serial data bus. I think the only way to make this work, is to install a compatible SDM....which involves runing some new wiring plus a connector change. There are other differences too....not plug-n-play.

thanks for the help, it seemed to of been working fine though for the last several months and wouldn't the airbag light relocation allow this to work? Like I said it does the normal 6-7flashs on start up then turns off, this is only a new issue. Once again thanks for your assistance!

I do not see how it can work. The 98 and 2002 SDMs are very different.

well all i can say is that is has been working fine ever since i did the relocation several months ago and only now recently been having this issue which i don’t think is actually related.(but i could be wrong)
if you were curious look up "c5 corvette airbag light relocation" on google or on this forum and you will see others that have done it, its how i found out that i had to do this.
heres a link to one:

none the less, lets just assume that this isn’t the issue, what would you recommend the issue is? loose connection? and if so what one?

thanks!
