TC tranny life question.
What affect is changing my TC to the sy3500 going to have on the life of my transmission. My car only has 14,000 miles on it, and it has been babied. I don't have any major mods like H&C or charger, so I'm not putting down a ridiculous amount of power. I am not concerned right now but after a couple of years am I looking at a definite rebuild?

I have a 98 with the same mileage as your car, I had a PT2400 and now a ST3500 with no tranny problems so far. My car now has heads and cam with no signs of trouble YET. Whether you have tranny trouble or not depends alot on how hard you drive your car and how you maintain your tranny. If you run your car hard alot sooner or later you will have rebuild your tranny. IMO just install a tranny cooler and have your shift points firmed up with LS1 Edit and enjoy. If your tranny goes don't rebuild it with stock parts get a FLP Level IV tranny and you will be good to go for a long time. If you are thinking about installing a shift kit checkout the Yank Converters web site under F.A.Q. Yank does not recommend using shift kits with their converters.

The main killer on life of transmissions especially on stock cars is heat. Heat is not our friend. Along with the converter install I would recommend also doing a tranny cooler and you shouldn't have any problems with life of your tranny.
