I have a 1999 C5 with the doors removed(ExxoVette).
Does anyone have any guidance on how to get the battery to turn off when the car is turned off without opening the doors(that are no longer on the vehicle)?
I currently hook the battery up to a charger.
Would disconnecting the doors removed power circuits from the fusing box by the passenger side floor panel be the best way to do this temporarily?
I have thought of adding a bypass on/off switch for the battery but am unsure if that is recommended.
There is no problem installing a battery disconnect switch, you most likely have current drain, but I don't believe that it's because there are no doors.
I recommend you to get a multimeter and measure Voltage (milliVolt range) over all fuses in Engineroom fusebox and the fusebox in the passenger footwell .
Then you shall be able to locate the source of the current with facts
I would think that if the doors are "removed", the car's switches see this the same as the doors being open, and turning on the courtesy lights. Over time, this will drain the battery. I'd try removing the bulbs from the courtesy light sockets....
