Hi everyone,
I was wondering if anyone has experience with the Vararam VR-B2 intake system for the C5.
Will it really give you a 40hp increase?
Is it a pain in the butt to install?
Thanks,

On a dyno and stock engine...no.....but if you live your life at the track, that's where it will shine.
It does make a great wet/dry vac if you ever encounter some high water though...

I had one on a prior C5. It is not worth the money or installation effort in my opinion. Will it really give you a 40hp increase? NO. Is it a pain in the butt to install? When taking into consideration the HP gains, and the increased care you must take to avoid ingesting water into your intake duct, YES.
- Yes kind of pain to install
- Fitment/quality is very meh, it feels cheap and seal against air filter/air cleaner was sus
- I know several guys first hand who have hydro locked motor because of the scoops, but where you live will have a big impact on how serious of a concern this is
- I like the concept of ducting in air from the front, but all things considered, I prefer a simple air bridge to air filter setup.
Most C5 owners don't take their cars out in the rain, especially in a rain where flash flood warnings are in effect. If you don't try to turn your Corvette into a yacht or submarine, your fine. 40hp? LMAO!! I have a 427 LS7 in my C5, and can assure you I haven't gained 40hp over the old setup. Maybe at 160mph you might gain 15hp, IDK. Yes, they aren't easy to install, but someone with decent skills can do it fairly easy. Just don't expect to be done in an hour or two. Yes, the sealing quality isn't the best, for sure. It would be a good idea to put a thin film of dielectric/silicone grease on each side of the filter sealing surface. If you're touring on vacation and run into a super heavy torrential rain, you're still OK. If you see standing water pull over and wait until it recedes.
