Hi, just hit 95,000 miles on my 98 and for a while have the ABS light coming on. If I turn engine off it goes off and stays off a while...meaning days or weeks than...it will do it again. No other symptoms, car runs perfect.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
Well you should look into it…a code reader won’t read DTC’s from the EBCM so if you don’t have a scan tool that won’t read those use the DIC…it will be a “C” or chassis trouble code but do what you want.
Ok, we get it.....car runs great and you do not want to do anything.
So leave it alone, and deal with it when you get a hard failure..... it just may be more expensive in the future.
Actually I needed input as what it might be since it's intermitent and it does that for over 2 years without any symptoms or changes.
Also was hoping that anyone here had something similar.
thanks!
I ran into this on my c6, was a bad connector. With a friend in the seat and the car on but engine not running touch all the wheel speed connectors. For some unknown reason touching my driver front stimulated an input moving the speedo needle and the abs light would subsequently come on. New connector solved it.

You have the era of unfixable EBCM. If your lucky it is a ground, however I surmise reading codes you will get a non communication with ECM. My car was my dads who kept detailed records from new. In 2014 he was getting intermittent ABS/TC lights. Stayed intermittent until 2021 when the lights came on and stayed on. Dealer pulled a P1571 code which in our cars means the ECM is not getting the requested signal from the EBCM (Electronic Brake Control Module) concerning torque management. Unfortunately 97-2000 cars have an EBCM which is not repairable or available anymore other than used units.
Check all abs sensors and wires, mine does this a lot when the temp drops. Spring thru late fall it’s good..
There you go...yes mine too does it when started in morning or after sitting not driven for a while. But again...not all the time. So you left it alone.
Since an EBCM installed exceeds $2,000 not in a rush to fix it. But will take it in for codes, estimates etc
Having the ABS light come on intermittently can be due to a variety of reasons. It's always best to bring your Corvette to a dealership so they may attempt to uncover the reason for the light to come on and make any necessary repairs. This can prevent any possible damage if left undiagnosed. Feel free to email us at socialmedia@gm.com, if you need help scheduling an appointment at your local Chevrolet dealership.

Thanks for your response!
Local dealerships told me that they will not take C5s for service anymore due to lack of OEM parts. They will only do oil/ battery changes.
Connell Chevrolet here in Costa Mesa just told me this.
