What engine swap/build core should I be looking for ?
My kid has this 2004 Corvette with 202k miles.
Instead of putting money into a wornout engine, id like to build a 2nd instead... but im not familiar with what generation to look for to keep the computer happy and working with the crank/cam sensors.
Same year 6.0 from a truck ?
Just looking for a cheap shortblock and will add whatever heads we decide on.

There are a few fairly low mile used LS1 and LS6 engines for sale on ebay, either of which would be a drop in since they are what the car has in it now.

You can get an LS2 out of a 2005 Corvette or GTO. The 2005s still had the 24x reluctor wheel on the crank.
We had a member of our local club who had a daily drive Z06 who was an engineer at GM Tech Center. When he had 216,000 miles on it after several hundred autocross runs and 100+ HPDE, the GM engine staff asked to borrow his car so they could measure the wear. They were amazed at how little wear the engine had and they measured and recorded everything. Last I heard the car had over 270,000 and still running in its original condition.
If you're building the spare motor, personally I would find an LS3 or L92 6.2L. You can have a 24x reluctor wheel pressed on the crank fair cheap by any engine builder. The 6.2L with rectangle port heads is a huge upgrade and all, even the truck motors, are aluminum so you won't take the weight hit of 6.0 truck motor. If I ever had to R&R my motor it would be a 6.2 or LS7.
