I recently had a mechanic hunt down and oil leak on my 2000 c5.
He. Changed the rear main seal.
Fixed the oil leak BUT NOW when my headlights go up it
blows a fuse and i lose my tail/brake lights , my headlights and motor that puts them down and my trunk release. Change the fuse it good.
I've checked the grounds I could get too without disassembling. Then i tested the hazard switch . Since it was flapping around it was bad I changed it. Still same
I know it's gotta be going to ground somewhere I just got a wire tracker last resort.
Hoping I can get some input before I gotta go through all that.
thanks
When a fuse blows you have a direct short to ground…”checking your grounds” isn’t a way to find your short…what fuse is blown ??…my advise is find an auto electric shop in your area if you don’t have a solid knowledge of automotive electrical systems…unfortunately we can’t diagnose this for you.

If it were me, I’d unplug everything on the circuit, replace the fuse, and retest. If it still blows, you have bad wiring. If the fuse stays, start plugging one component in at a time and test it until the fuse blows.
