Default 2004 LS1 PCV system

I have read that '04s have the LS6 valley cover with a "restrictor" in the metal line at the front of the valley cover that serves as the PVC valve....OK,,,got that.
So my 04 Service Manual is wrong as it shows a PCV valve at a rear port at the rear of the driver's side valve cover.
On my '04 LS1, this port has a tube that has been pinched closed. Was this a service bulletin or something?

The only PCV hoses I have is one from the passenger side valve cover that goes to the throttle body and then one that comes from the front of the valley cover to the intake.

I installed a catch can, put it inline with the hose from the passenger side valve cover to the throttle body. Now I am questioning this.....was this correct?

Thanks in advance.

You're original configuration sounds correct. For '04, both LS1 and LS6 got the superior system with a PCV orifice in the valley cover hose fitting. The port at the rear of the driver's side valve cover should just have a plug.

I'm not an expert, but I don't think your catch setup is correct based on page 6 of these instructions

And those are the instructions I was missing.....thank you for the link.
So yep, I have the catch can installed incorrectly.

Thank you.

Superior system is relative. The LS PCV system sucks, LITERALLY. If I'd empty my intake manifold of accumulated oil from that superior system, oil prices would plunge!!

That, or vent to atmosphere, as virtually every engine installed in cars, motorcycles, and most lawn mowers did until the 1960s. I have vented my built LS7 to a collector bottle for over 10 years. No more oil in the intake, and it cost about $15 worth of hoses and fittings. Plastic bottle was free......
