Needed to replace the ignition switch in the car due to it starting to get faulty. (dead cluster, no interior electronics, very "crunchy" turning of the key) Got the new one directly from the dealer and swapped it in.
After install the car has power, but no crank. Along with the "service column lock" message on the dash.
Out of curiousity while it was all apart, i reinstalled the original ignition switch, and while it still has the service lock message on the screen, the car cranks and fires no problem.
Is there some sort of coding/programming required when replacing the switch? Or would the lmc5 module completely by pass this issue?
There are two tutorials on the forum relative to the ignition switches, one for cleaning and polishing the contacts in the original switch, and another about aligning and polishing the contacts in the new chinesium switches. It seems to me that I have found both in the tech section, in the stickies portion at the heading.

The AC Delco OEM switch is made in China. Paid high dollar for such a cheap switch that didn't work. I ended up installing a $30 switch from Amazon that worked.
