Name That Part!
Got a weird vibration under load... Real smooth in neutral (and 6th gear is like butter!!) but not so much in the other gears. So I did what most of us would do, I thought that I'd start digging in an would hopefully find the issue.
So I dropped the exhaust and removed the tunnel plate. Looking at the back of the bell housing, I found this:
I guess the last mechanic who worked on this thought that GM engineers put too many bolts into the car!
So, question is, what type and size bolts are they (and yes, I realize that the 2 horizontal bolts (not the ones on the carrier plate) are not the same as the single one higher up on the housing), and, where can I buy them???
Now, I know that these missing bolts aren't the source of the vibration, so back to the base problem...
If this were you, and you're appreciated experience, where would you look first? A couple of pieces of information: The engine was built about 5,000 miles ago. 383 stroker, forged Eagle running gear. The torque tube, axle and couplers were all new at the time of the build. The transmission was upgraded to a stage 3 T56 sometime before I bought the car. Differential has never been opened (that I know of) and the half shafts are original...
I hope you love a challenge.
Any help on the missing bolts and the vibration would be GREATLY appreciated.
Thank you!
Jeff
