Kind of a strange situation but I noticed my belt is riding back on my water pump... I have been dealing with another issue and haven't dug into this yet, but a few weeks ago it started squealing during warm up then it would seem to go away a few minutes into the drive and now it wont really go away unless its warm and higher in the RPM. Squeal is significantly worse at idle.
'99 c5 with a Vortech Si trim supercharger. I have the upgraded alternator mount and 8 rib supercharger accessories/ dampener.
My belt is riding true on the alternator but about 1-1.5 ribs off the back of the water pump and towards the rear of the supercharger pulley. I never noticed the issue till now and I'm not sure how long its been this way but I really don't want to pull the head unit off to replace it if it rides off completely and gets shredded... All mounts and bolts seem to be tight as well as belt tension.
If I were to guess it looks like my water pump is riding out a few mms?? Anyone ever had similar issues? I plan on looking further into it when I get the chance, just wasn't sure if there were any weird things anyone has ever ran into first. Blower side Blower side water pump Alternator riding true Idler looks fine...
From that perspective, that looks like an 8-rib belt on a 10-rib S/C pulley.
Also, is the blower square to the head/water pump. Some aftermarket water pumps require shimming of the spacers just to make it square.
It's a 6 rib belt, if you look at the last pic you can see the ribs on the pulley. As to the squareness, its possible it could be off but it would be odd to have lost its square 8 months late. Ill have to double check and make sure all the bolts are tight on the head unit and water pump.

Belts just don't start getting out of anlgement for no reason. Something is going bad. I bet when you take it apart. Your going to have a there it is moment.
