Default Rear ABS sensor wiring open (both sensor grounds)

I am trouble shooting open sensor codes for both rear sensors. Hubs are new with sensors of course but I know my car had some wiring issues as I had to cut out and re-terminate both sides of the 10 pin fuel pump connector on the pass side of the trans (crunchy insulation and broken wires, maybe cooked by exhaust heat). This diagram is showing only one connector (C148 by the batt) in between the EBTCM and the rear sensor plugs. Is that right? That's a long run.....

Anyway when I check for continuity between the respective pins on C148 & wheel plug, only the sensor signal wires (Black and Brown) show continuity, both sensor grounds (red & white) don't. Coincidental or am I missing something? There is no bad ground or something not on the schematic back there that could be at fault? Is there any problem area I should look at for rubbing or chaffing?

As a side note I noticed my C148 connector does not have a steering wheel position wire in location J in the connector that is attached to the harness that runs to the rear (circled in red). It has a silicone plug as any unused connector hole would have, looks it came from the factory. The connector on the harness that runs forward does have that lt blue wire @ J. Any idea why? Did anything change mid year?

I have no idea what model year you have so I can’t comment on your schematic..if you have no continuity between C148 and the connector at the wheel hub you must have an open.

Turns out I had random internal breaks in those wires without any visual damage. I patched in some new wire and the section I removed I was able to snap the wire apart with my hands. The conductor was corroded.

Is this a problem area on these cars? Considering all the wiring it has am I facing an electrical nightmare?

no record of it, just a high mile new england car. The problem area would likely get just as wet driving in the rain anyway.
