Just bought a 2001 C5 and I'd like help explaining what's been done to the exhaust. I've had several C5's and C6's and I have to say this is the best sounding C5/C6 I've ever heard. The sound is very deep, so totally unfatiquing. On the highway, you can barely hear it. But when you build the revs, it's just unbelievably good. It looks to me like someone just cut out the mufflers and replaced them with bypass pipes? But, from memory, the pipes fitted look bigger (wider) than I remember the stock ones. Does anyone know about this mod? Thanks in advance.

That is the I hate my neighbors special from Douche Industries.
The only exhaust system that looks similar with no muffler or resonator is the SLP loudmouth, but I thought it was a 4 tip option, yours has 2 tips. Does it have headers and cats?
And I thought mine was loud with headers, cats, and B&B bullets. How loud is that thing with no muffler???
SLP loudmouth is probably the worst wake your neighbor exhaust out there.
It's not loud at all. Very pleasant. I had it at a local Cars and Coffee, last Saturday, and everyone was very impressed. Hey, I didn't do it! No reflection on me. You would think it would be very loud. It's not. I honestly think Chevy could have sold the car this way. This is why I'm confused/interested in what's going on here.
Even coming up to redline, it's thrilling not objectionable.
Yes, it has the cats and whatever those small muffler looking things are midpipe (resonators?). Whoever did this knew what they were doing.
Look, I'm a mechanic and probably put 50 different pipes on cars I had over the years. Magnaflows sound most like what I've got here. But not as good. It's deep, rich, no overrun snapping etc. and quiet at cruise on the highway.

Never heard of dry ice blasting but I'm sure it hasn't been done. Car has 48,000 miles and--even though I'm a clean freak--there was absolutely nothing I could do to the exterior, interior, under the hood, or trunk, when I got it home. 'As new'. I have a lift and intend to detail the underneath but--as you can see--it won't be too hard. It's a bit dusty, but that's it. Corvettes are the easiest cars to buy used because there are so many mint ones to choose from. Getting the colors you want is maybe the hard part. I have to have a light interior. Love the way they look and important in a convertible when you leave the top down in the sun.
