I'm just getting my car finished up with major mods and just completed the dyno work. It appears the stock 98 cats are now restricting flow. I've upgrade from the 346 c.i. to a 427 c.i. motor with bored polished throttle body with '02 Z06 MAF unit and Donaldson fliter. It runs great but I'm told the cats are now limiting my power.
Anyone have any recommendations for a high-flow converter replacement which has OEM reliability and emissions performance with higher flow capacity?
congrats on your mallett 427 i bet the car rocks. anyway if mallett said your converts are hamperring your performance why didnt they change them to zo6 converters. i know they use them or did you not talk to chuck about them. if you didnt i would call him and ask him since he is the person who built the car. also was your car dynoed by mallett or someone else
Chuck has the Z06 converters available with the intermediate pipe but I believe Random Technology has a higher flow converter with acceptable performance but at a much cheaper price. More performance has the set with an x-pipe for $599.00 while the Z06 setup is about $1600.00. I'm unfortunately tapped out of funds for the short term so I will wait until I know the best choice and update the dyno/pcm programming when I update the converters and any other minor changes all at the same time so the PCM programming will be correct for the configuration I'm running.
Chuck hopes to be done by friday but then I've been waiting quite a while for this beast to be finished. :hurray:
