Hello, I have a problem with my 1998 C5 corvette. The corvette will crank willingly, however it will stall within a minute of idling, followed by a worsening “crank no start”. The corvette will start after letting sit for hours, however the issue will return.
After further research, I have concluded that it is either caused by a bad cam/crank position sensor, or a faulty ignition switch.
Given the symptoms I have provided, what is my most likely point of failure? The best answer would be to replace all 3 components, however I would like to save myself some time and headache.
Any recommendations are much appreciated. Thank you all.
additional info: Adequate fuel pressure is being supplied, and spark plugs have been recently replaced. Vehicle had been running perfectly fine just before the issue.
I don't belive the Ignition switch is at fault, do you have tach needle movement when it fails to start? A bad cam sensor will make the car run poorly, but it will start. You probably do have a crank sensor that is failing.
