Default Coolant going past thermostat when cold

Does this thermostat have a bypass hole. I put a new acdelco 12571261 thermostat on a few months ago and I was doing a full coolant flush recently to get all the old stuff out, but i was noticing i got a lot more coolant out than people said I would. I sort of figured it would be the thermostat letting coolant through. I removed the rad hose and added coolant to the upper hose and once I did that I get a mild trickle of coolant from the thermostat. My question, is the hole circled a bypass to let a small ammount of coolant through or is the thermostat likely stuck open just slightly.

Yes, thermostats allow a small amount of water to flow past them, that is normal.

Yep - the hole stops steam from getting trapped amongst other things

Not steam.......AIR. The hole facilitates air bleeding in the system. All thermostats have this in some form as a hole, valve, or jiggle pin.
