Hey guys, honestly i just need to rant and im lost as to where to start. i dropped off my 2001 corvette at a local (but well known and well reviewed) shop roughly an hour from me on tuesday of last week to have my rear main seal replaced and torque tube rebuilt. The owner who is very nice said the car should be done by the upcoming friday. skipping all the needless ness the car was not done friday and they have had it all of this week aswell. yesterday (friday) i called and asked for an update and he told me the rear main seal and tube were complete, they took the car for a test drive and came back and let it idle. no issues during the drive or oil leaks. the guy told me he let the car idle and had went inside to use the bathroom, came back out and the car died. he said it would not start back and after inspection he said the PCM was shot. This is a direct quote from him. “PCM has no 12v on the CrankShaft B+ Supply. All the wires to the CPS all tested good, grounds included.” He said the PCM had debris when it was taken out and clear water damage on the unit. He said the only fix is a new PCM (or used) but regardless a replacement. PCM itself Debris from taking PCM out
. my main question here is, is a water damaged PCM common? or am i getting screwed here. the timing is very unfortunate. i will say the car sits outside, but has been inside at the shop since last tuesday (it is now saturday, 1 week 4 days after). any help or guidance would be appreciated.
RESOLVED: got a new pcm
