There are still some NOS out there if you are willing to pay the premium. Of course if your compressor is toast, you'll want to replace the orifice tube, accumulator, and condenser. I just replaced my compressor, orifice tube, accumulator, and condenser last year from Rock Auto. All brand new Four Seasons parts.
There is a recent thread where a member bought a NOS OEM compressor from smcautoparts.com. The long and short of that thread was that the forum member did not do an oil balance when installing the new compressor and accumulator so was unsure how much oil was in the system.

I also replaced mine about four months ago with the Four-Season's parts sourced from Rock Auto. All of the parts fit properly and the system is working satisfactorily.
My previous C5 I used a NAPA remanufactured OEM ( AC Delco?) compressor. It comes with a good warranty and was a nice piece. I did not want to spend the money on a new old stock...my current C5 has a compact unit from Dirt Dingo.
