Default Rhythmic vibration?

Have a very odd rhythmic vibration in my C5. It's only really noticeable at 45+ (going to do further testing to see if it also only does it in 5th and 6th, or if it does it in 4th) and the rate of the vibration increases with speed.

The vibration isn't constant, it starts and stops evenly based on speed. Feels similar to driving on a rumble strip (although much milder in terms of vibration intensity).

I did remove the weight on the drivers side of the diff. Is it possible that that's what's causing this?

Why did you remove the vibration damper? Did the problem start after you removed it?

It's fairly common. Mine does it too. I suspect it's from some missing wheel weights at the driver's side rear but there are many possible causes.

Honestly it was sort of an accident. I was cleaning the diff/trans and had removed it to get better access around the axle, and completely forgot to put it back on until after the diff was back in the car. I figured I'd try running without it and see if any issues popped up.

It's been a minute since I really drove the car, but going back to a post I made after driving it 2300 miles it was definitely there prior to me removing the damper, so that definitely can't be it.

Interesting. It doesn't feel like the wheel is out of balance. Might take it to the tire shop by my house and see what their balancer says just to see. I'm curious what other causes there might be?

Are you curious enough to query a search engine or LLM, or just sort of musing out loud that someone here should do that and copy/paste the info?

While I have no idea what an LLM is, I am capable of using Google myself. That being said, I would have no qualms about anyone posting their own ideas or knowledge (especially if they have experience with this issue) especially since, as you said, there are many possible causes.

Is this the same C5 in your profile pic. Is that a collision or salvage car? Just wondering the history.

It is the same car, and it was a collision/salvage car. I've got a thread detailing the restoration (and the damage) here: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...n-project.html

So I had the rear tires rebalanced. Tech said that they were off by a little bit, but not much. Looks like it was the same weights, just shifted about 1/2" or so on the rim.

Vibration is still there, though less noticeable. Won't have time to really work on it for a month or two (wife's car needs a transmission rebuild) but I'll look at the wheel bearings next.
