Hi, this is my first post on these threads, I had the couplers in my manual 00’ c5 go bad, once i took it apart the couplers were destroyed. I was then looking inside the torque tube housing and the front of it by the propeller shaft has very deep groves (shown in the image attached) I was curious if this is OK to re use, I do not think it is and could not find anyone talking about a similar problem, and the second question is would I be ok buying only the housing from an automatic c5 because it is cheaper or are the automatic and manual c5 housings different? Thank you so much for any help in advanced.
Well, those grooves aren't too bad, but if you plan on playing hard with it it would probably be best to replace it.
I would be surprised if the automatic tube will interchange though.
The auto TT is not interchangeable with the manual. The section that is welded on the back is different (and likely a completely different bolt pattern). I also doubt the front section is similar as well.

Plus the shifter mounts are strictly on the manual tube.
KovachC5, please update your profile with the year car you have as the year will affect the tech help you receive.
After reviwing your photos, your TT is structurally compromised...get one from the bone yard or flea bay...as this is your first post, please be advised that there two (2) structurally different TT's for the manual trans C5's over the years. Please see my post in the below link
