Battery keeps draining so was doing a parasitic drain test. Was way higher than 50 milliamps but didn't have time to start pulling fuses at the time. So went out last night and when I connect the meter, it's showing 12 volts instead. 🤷🤔
I've disconnected the alternator wires, the starter fuse under the dash, maf, aftermarket gauge and linelock I wired in, coil packs, fuel pump relay, and even the pcm itself. Still showing 12 volts on the meter.
To be clear, positive cable is connected to battery. Negative cable is disconnected. One probe on negative terminal of the battery. Other probe on the ground cable for the battery.
Not the greatest at wiring schematics but wondering where I could be checking for next. Possible the battery itself could be shorted internally? Is there a way to check that??? Thanks!
P.S. I just pulled every fuse and every relay under the dash and under the hood. It went down to 6 volts.
Just an update. I started installing all the fuses and relays I can to see what would make the voltage jump back up. I work nights so going to bed but so far, I could install all but 3 fuses under the hood. The ones I have listed under the dash are what I've had issues with so far but have almost every fuse that still to has to be installed under the dash. Pulling my hair out. No idea why I would have 6 volts with EVERY fuse and relay pulled.
My friend, with the negative battery disconnected and your DVOM connected in series you are supposed to be measuring CURRENT (AMPS) and NOT voltage...watch the video...pulling fuses is not the best way...watch the next video on the next post...there are many videos on YouTube concerning basic electrical...one needs to understand basic electrical theory first.
