I'm thinking about getting the GMS MAF sensor along with the ZO6 intake box and going to modify the box by cutting more holes in it. The filter will be a K&N. I am wondering if I add the GMS MAF Cold air tuning will this be a good mod?
With the intake, do you think I would gain any extra power with the new MAF as well? :confused:
Well I would like to hear from some people so I hope they all chime in... :D
On my other truck I wondered the samething people had mixed fillings... On here under the reviews some people posted that they saw a improvment on the dyno... One guy said 19rwhp... Other mods he had could have worked with the GMS MAF though... Hummm...
GMS claims quicker and more accurate electronics and 47% more airflow with their MAF sensor. Combining this with an open intake system is a good mod in my opinion. Check out the GMS website for their claims and proven results.
Also, Donaldson offers a panel filter with open C5 airbox lid combo for around $100 as well. Check it out in their Upfront Technologies website.
:seeya
Along with other goodies re Ignition and Exhaust, I decided to go with the following Intake Combo :
=> M T I True RamAir System (complete with a new Radiator Shroud, thanks Jayson for this awesome and powerful setup !) = big large low seating Intake, but a high Filter !!
=> K&N Panel Air Filter Element (#33 - 2118)
=> GRANATELLI MS MAFS
=> BPP VORTEX AirBridge with Silicone Coupler
=> ZO6 / LS6 Intake Manifold (thanks Shawn, THE LAPD)
From the beginning, first test runs allowing relearn of the fuel tables, I could feel a neat difference in Throttle response and much much better breathing capabilities. SOTP : increased low-end TQ (second gear, 2'000 - 4'000rpm).
The above mentioned Combo does work excellently so far and I never saw any DTCs.
Absolutely convinced, I would go this parts route again, so I would recommend it without any hesitation. :thumbs:
I am still looking for an ported Throttle Body to finish-up the Intake Section.........may be the "magic word" spells Shaner S2 ? Time will tell......
I would take the $300 the GMS costs and spend it on a good dyno tune! The GMS is not calibrated to your indivual C5 and the dyno tuning will better adjust the fuel flows, timing, and torque managment. I have also heard negative comments on the GMS.
This combination will work well (I have used this) if you get the GMS that is calibrated 5% rich. Don't go this route if you have or are going to do heavy mods like cams/heads, boring/stroking, or power adders. :chevy
A five gabillion mm MAF would really allow more flow, but what is the point if the rest of the intake tract cant :crazy: Save your money, 300$ goes a long way towards other mods. :cheers:
