Default 99 Belt tensioner

When replacing alternator i pulled off belt. Noticed allot of slop in the belt tensioner. Are the aftermarket ones ( compared cams / katek) the same setup as stock with spring tension? Looks like the have a lock nut and you may have to tension it manually. Id rather not add one more thing to have to check all the time.

OEM not a consideration?

I have a Katech, there's no spring. I has to be manually tensioned using a torque wrench. The OEM tensioner is known to lose the belt when tracking your car. Vendors like Rockauto mostly sell the slightly undersized belt for the C5 to help alleviate his problem.

appreciate it. Mine is just a beater with a heater. OEM would probably be my best route.

In that case, just go with whatever fit/form/function compatible brand is offered by your local auto parts store.
