Very easy to do, so get to it. Slap ya some holes in it first.

Lots of members have done this. A great mod for the price.
Remember your filter should have come with a self adhesive gasket seal for the filter to assure a tight fit. It's tough to install the seal without removing the entire airbox. I ruined the first seal by trying to install it without removing the airbox. To remove the airbox disconnect the air bridge then remove the airbox. Removing the airbox is the toughest part. It's held in place by 2 rubber grommets at the front. Some are really tight so lubricate the grommets with soapy water. Stand in front of the car (yes the hood will be in your face) and push the airbox towards the windshield to pop it out.

Some have reported using the gasket made it hard to close the lid. Didn't have a problem w/mine.
Have Fun!! :auto:

I did this mod. Unhook the straps and push them out of the way so they don't contact the paint. Remove the old filter and holder. Then shove your fingers between the airbox cover and the front frame - on each side of the grommets, pushing the airbox cover rearward. It should pop right off. Leave the screwdriver in the toolbox. Make sure the grommets are still on the airbox cover and not stuck on the frame studs.

Use some liquid soap on the grommets and push the new cover on. Make sure the metal straps are correctly seated in their guides on the airbox cover as you close everything up.

I just removed the top of my dad's air box and zip tied the filter on to it.
