Mine has been going on intermittently since 2016.. sometimes it disappears for 8 months, comes back for a few weeks, disappears, comes back for months, etc. Never bothered to get it fixed.
But why do some people make it a big deal? Is it a safety issue as sports mode is always ON and someone can fly off the road?

Some people just like know what is wrong with their car, and do their best to repair items as they fail instead of let them accumulate.
You could spend a few minutes pulling fault codes through the "DIC", and then with those fault codes do some research and determine for yourself the criticality of the issue.

Absolutely true! I gave my son a needed education on his check engine light. My son owns a million dollar construction company and is far from dumb. But he struck out on this one. I borrowed his truck and was surprised his MIL was on. When I returned it, I told him about it and was surprised when he said "Oh, I know. It's been on for a few months (!), but I know what it is so I'm not worried about it (!). I asked him how do you something else hasn't failed in the interim? Theres only one light. You could almost hear the light switch click on!! I know Lucky knows what I'll post next here, but many don't. So, for those who may not know the following, in more serious failures the MIL will start flashing. If your check engine light starts flashing, you have something wrong that needs immediate attention.....
