it's a the "drone" sound that you hear while cruising, if the exhaust system has a lot of resonance, the "drone" will be VERY loud. listening to the stereo will be difficult (you won't even be able to hear yourself think)!
the only aftermarket exhaust that dosn't have any resonance are the Corsa's.
A quick ride in a car equipped with the SLP Loudmouth exhaust and you'll know exaclty what resonance is. As described above, it's a buzzy almost humming noise that seems to rattle your eardrums and makes your eyes water if you keep in the RPM range long enough where resonance occurs. Most cars with any form of resonance get it at about 2000 RPM. Trust me, you'll know it when you hear (and feel) it.

I have that at 2500 rpm. The exhaust just gets a lot louder at that point. It does it with stock catback, Z06 Ti catback, blackwing or stock intake. What would cause this? I think it is the Hi-flow cats and X-pipe?
If you're interested in a badazz sounding exhaust with little to no resonance or drone, check out the GHL systems on the LAPD site. Very deep sounding at idle and screams at WOT. Then set the cruise on the freeway, you won't even know it's not stock it's so quiet inside. It's the best of both worlds.
You're fairly close, if you'd like to meet up in Milwaukee or someplace nearby sometime to have a ride and listen, shoot me an email.
