Can anyone tell me if there have been any problems with the automatic tranny's in the C5's. Is it a 4L60E transmission or different? I know it's a different car, but I had a '91 GTA with an auto tranny and it was a worthless transmission. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

4L60E is right. Ay this point, I have not had any trouble with my 98 C-5 ,but I do not drag it a lot either. Hopefully, one of the members from this forum will give you a better answer. You might want to check the TSB's to see if any exist for the auto trans. Good luck.

Good... the late 4L60-E is great platform trans. Lots of upgrades avalible and when tuned right can live up to alot of horsepower. I personally have one in a c-5 about 550 hp. and a 4450 lbs impala about 535 hp. If it can survive an impala... it can live in a c-5 nooo problem!!! :smash: :smash:
The trans in your 91 GTA was a 4-L60 aka 700r4. a bit "clumsier" different valve body mostly. not supprised you have performance issues with it in stock trim. I would have alot more faith in the late-model a-4.
