**** / handle, no. C6 ***** do not thread on and use a cross bolt at the base to install.
Shifter itself, yes it can be directly swapped into your C5 tub. Or as a whole assembly from the C6 to the C5. A direct swap. But you must remove the 4x 10mm bolts of the center console and the various 7 or 8mm and torx pieces which hold the column cover in place. All in, it is about a 20 minute swap.
The C6 Z06 bent handle shifters are pretty comfortable. The main gain anywhere in here is going to be whichever tub or base has the fresher bushings where the linkage bar with the cup slides forward and back. This is a part which you would never realize wears, but it does wear and replacing the tub with a TMODcustoms upgraded tub is a great addition to the vehicle as they age.
Pro tip: replace the (3) factory torx head bolts at the linkage and torque tube mounts with standard 10mm hex heads. Future you will thank current you for spending the six bucks.
