I have a stock (only mod is a Donaldson BW) '01 MN6. Being a newbie, I don't know anything about LS1 edits that I hear so much about. What choices do I have in this area? Will it cause my DIC to start spitting codes on me? What kind of performance can I get in my current, mostly stock config? Also, who does them? Thanks in advance, guys. :flag
It gives a code for "loss of communication" everytime you re-program, but you can clear it easily. Other than that, it is a very uselful tool, especially if you have an A4 to tighten up the shifts and put the shifts points where you want them in the rpm band.
Thanks Roger. Does that mean that once you LS1-edit, you clear the codes once and then forget it? Or do you have to clear the error codes each and every time you drive it? I'm just starting to explore the LS-1 edits and I might want to get one done for mine as it is base stock right now with the exception of the BW mod. :flag
The codes are normal.. Everytime you read or write to the Pcm you will get a 1518 code and when you are finsihed you just clear it and everythigs fine. Just be prepared for a rather long learning curve before you are fully comfortable with all the features that LS1 edit has to offer. :seeya :seeya
Chris is correct. The codes are more of a nuisance than anything else. The first time it happened to us was a little unnerving, but once we did a simple program, then the rest is history. The LS1_edit bunch has a pretty good mail list with a ton of traffic, in fact, too much for me. I can’t begin to read it all.
We are into the fuel changes now and have leaned out the system somewhat to gain a little more hp. We hope to go the track this weekend and see how we did. We have LT’s on now so that may put another quirk in the equation (hopefully good!).
