Default Another exhaust question

Before I get flamed for not using the search. I tried searching offroad exhaust, X pipe, etc with no luck. My first question is, How does ths Z-06 ti system sound with now cats? I like the way my cars sounds now. I am just looking for something a little louder. I know the Ti system is a good system. Do most people go to a muffler shop and have the cats cut out and weld in new pipe? Or is there an offroad pipe you can buy to bolt on and off like a mustang? Are there any gains with eleminating the cats? Do you have to use the 02 simulators to prevent the codes? Thanks for all imput.

Never heard this setup but I would imagine it would be noticeably louder than stock. The Z06 exhaust is more aggressive than the standard C5 exhaust to begin with.

Some have done this but you'd have to run O2 sims.

Or is there an offroad pipe you can buy to bolt on and off like a mustang?

You can buy ORP's or x-pipes that take the place of the cats but they're not simple bolt-ons. You'd need to cut the cats off and weld the ORP's or x-pipe in place. The section of the exhaust from the exhaust manifolds back to the over-axle pipes of the catback is one piece. To eliminate the cats you have to cut that section out. Several aftermarket x-pipes (Corsa, MagnaFlow, Bassani) are mounted aft of the cats so you'd cut just behind them and install an x-pipe.

I have the FLP header system which replaces the entire exhaust from the heads to the over-axle pipes. The FLP's are a full bolt-on system which comes with quick-change, interchangeable hi-flow cats and ORP's so you can swap them out easily when desired. LGM has a similar setup with their header system. Below is a pic of the FLP system with the ORP's in place and the x-pipe that comes with the system.

Gains due to elimination of the cats have been posted here but I think it varies depending on what else has been done to the engine. Some have reported a strong odor due to the lack of cats. If you eliminate the cats, you'll need to run O2 sims to prevent codes.

A minimal increase in power will be had in your situation. IMO it's not worth it because I have heard that the smell can get annoying after a while. I could see if you stood to gain 15-20 HP. But most people on here talk of gaining only like 2-3HP on a stock c5. The cats on these cars flow pretty well anyway.
