Default 02 C5 CAGS Pigtail

While becoming intimately friendly with my transmission (cleaning a leak), was curious about the CAGS skip pigtail that the 1 previous owner installed. I bought the more involved Compliance Parts CAGS Eliminator Kit, but didn’t realize there was a “cheaper” for lack of a better description already on.

I thought the solenoid was leaking so I removed the pigtail and plug/cap end from the valve. They were both oil soaked, but at first glance, did not appear to be from trans fluid (thicker, darker). I do have a seemingly “leaky butt”, that looks like it was “fixed” once already, and poorly at that.

Anyway, the pigtail looks like whatever sealant they put in it to protect the resistor has gone the way of the dinosaurs and disappeared. Can I just toss any old RTV in there or should I use a hi temp black and expect the same result in another 20 years?

The original owner I bought it from had a ton of receipts to include surprises like a Corsa X-pipe, a Zo6 actual carbon fiber air bridge and a Granatelli custom MAF sensor (whatever their “custom” entails). No receipt of course, for the CAGS pigtail.
