My drivers side headlamp would not raise or retract. Did all the usual checks (gears, bump stops, fuses) & finally opened up the control module to find this mess.
I've replaced the burned out MOSFET (and it works!), but the board was so burnt that one of the solder pads was gone. So I think a replacement module is in my future. Is the only option a used one?
I would solder a wire to where the copper trace is gone and keep that as a spare due to the severe burned circuit board. Because GM didn't provide any heat sinking, any used modules will also be burned to some degree but still function. Amazon (and e-bay) have a new aftermarket one for sale at around $92, both look like there is no heat sink but they're made with high strength plastic, lol. Used modules go for under $85 on e-bay. Mine was also burned some and in 2011 before it got worse I added some heatsinking to the board and sealed it up better to keep out water, it hasn't failed yet.
