Default Magneride delete problem C5

Hi,

I am having a problem after installing standard shocks in place of Magnerides. Message on DIC says 'shocks inoperative" and "Max speed 60mph" - so normal behavior when you remove Magnerides.

I tried with Tech2 with no success. Hell knows why, when I disable the active damping in BCM and save config, it comes back to as it was after car restart - with active damping enabled.
I did this many times and it always worked this way in C6 Vettes. For some reason this car won't accept any changes in BCM ( i tried also disable other functions with no success). Then I got the emulators from Amazon to just plug them in and forget about the problem.

After emulators install car behaves abnormal:
There's no"shocks inoperative" message anymore on DIC, but the max speed warning comes back from time to time. Sometimes it allows me to go faster, sometimes not, sometimes it appears after 30mins sometimes after 5 minutes, sometimes after 1 hour . No pattern here.
What could be the problem? Is it possible that BCM is faulty?
One extra info - the emulators that I received from Amazon turned out to be dedicated to C6 - i had to change the connectors to make them fit.

Any suggestions?
New BCM ?

Do you have the old shocks? you can leave the harness part plugged in and the car shouldn't know the difference.

You have left out a lot of information.

-What year C5?
-Are you deleting F45 or F55?
-Do you have a real Tech2 or China copy?
-When you remove the asterisk from "Real Time Damping (RPO FXX) are you sure you pressed "Save Options"?
-Did you disconnect the plugs to the ESC Module?
You do not need simulators to delete the system!

Hi, thanks for the input!
- 2002
- Don't know what is F45 oe F55? Could you explain please?
- Tech2 China copy, but it worked fine on previous cars I programmed.
- i remove the asterisk next to real time damping, click save as usual. The message says BCM programmed sucessfully, but when I start the car again and connect tech2 again the asterisk is back.
- which plugs? Do you mean the shock absorbers connectors?
- I know I dont need emmulators, I bought them after I was unable to disable the active damping from the BCM.

There is a post on the forum that has the steps to go through for disabling RTD/F45.
Basically after turning off the option, before doing anything else, you need to unplug the F45 module in the drivers side storage cubby. It is hiding under the gray lining. Un plug the connectors and remove the module. Now verify the save and cycle the key. The message should be gone.
The reason why it is not staying disabled is if the module is still connected the BCM will sense this and reenable the option.

Hi,
yes it looks like this but I dont remember if there was F45 or F55. I don't know what is the difference between those 2 (F45 / F55)
I don't have the car available now, but will try again with unplugged connectors from the module. But I was unable also to change any other option in BCM as well. Not only the real time damping.
I will come back with a feedback once I have a chance to check it again with unplugged connectors.
Thanks!

If you have a 2002 it is F45, but you could have googled that........
Good luck

Here are the correct steps to disable F45/F55 on 1997 through 2003 C5's.

1. Hook up Tech 2, turn car on, make sure module in the rear is plugged in. Do not unplug the rear module.
2. Use Tech 2 to delete the F45 option (F55 does not appear on the menu screen, use F45).
3. Save new configuration.
4. Do not turn car off, do not remove Tech 2. Go to the module in the rear of the car, unplug the grey connector (the widest one), leave any other plug(s) in. [leave the other 1 (F45) or 2 (F55) plugged in]
5. Turn off car, leave Tech 2 plugged in.
6. Remove remaining plugs from module in the rear of car. [never plug them back in again, if you do the F45 turns on automatically]
7. Turn car on to verify the "max speed 80 mph" is gone.
8. Unplug Tech 2.

Here is a thread link with successful removal following these instructions.

Not sure what you mean. The link I posted has the exact same steps you posted...almost verbatim.
