Default Vert button no longer works

2002 vert came back from an installer and the button under the mid section no longer releases the latch on the waterfall. Any guesses?

Update: button has power, can't hear the click of the relay. Might be relay. When button pressed, release mechanism has no power.

Maybe they simply didnt plug the harness back into the button, or didnt realize they unplugged it while working in that area?

My understanding is the OP is talking about the tonneau cover, not the trunk.....

Try it with the car running - I have seen them act up with low battery voltage.

OP is talking about the tonneau cover but it won't open unless the trunk is closed.

OP-If you hear a clicking, it could be a bad connection with the relay in the interior fusebox. I recently posted about this same problem. I even bought a new button switch. That helped some, for awhile. But soon it wouldnt work at all, only a faint click. So, I nosedived into the fuse/relay box in the passenger side footwell (Gee-what fun! Thanks, GM!!). I ended up fixing it by a simple solution. I simply unplugged the relay, then plugged it back in. Not any trouble since. Remember, odds are all your fuses and relays have been plugged in, and undisturbed, for at least 21 years. There's bound to be some loss of contact in that time frame. Unplugging/plugging in again worked for me. 2 months later, still good.....

Good news is the button switch is still available. Or, at least it was a couple 3 years ago. I think the aftermarket has stepped in and is making re-pops, too. Now....If only they'll start making re-pop EBCM's!!

Thanks for that. I know my button works so I'm suspecting relay as there is voltage on the button. I do have a tech II programmer if I have to get into the bcm. That's a great pic of the manual diagram btw.
