OP-If you hear a clicking, it could be a bad connection with the relay in the interior fusebox. I recently posted about this same problem. I even bought a new button switch. That helped some, for awhile. But soon it wouldnt work at all, only a faint click. So, I nosedived into the fuse/relay box in the passenger side footwell (Gee-what fun! Thanks, GM!!). I ended up fixing it by a simple solution. I simply unplugged the relay, then plugged it back in. Not any trouble since. Remember, odds are all your fuses and relays have been plugged in, and undisturbed, for at least 21 years. There's bound to be some loss of contact in that time frame. Unplugging/plugging in again worked for me. 2 months later, still good.....
Good news is the button switch is still available. Or, at least it was a couple 3 years ago. I think the aftermarket has stepped in and is making re-pops, too. Now....If only they'll start making re-pop EBCM's!!
Here you go. Check fuse....listen for relay clicking, etc.....
Thanks for that. I know my button works so I'm suspecting relay as there is voltage on the button. I do have a tech II programmer if I have to get into the bcm. That's a great pic of the manual diagram btw.
