Default TechII vs MDI vs VCXnano

Recently acquired a 6speed 2004 base hatchback. I am planning on keeping this vehicle long term and have been diving into the different options for GM level scan tools. There is the TechII and MDI clones and the nano which is a MDI clone in itself. My question arise when stetting up these clones. I am open to each and everyone of them however the MDI and nano both look to be less problematic in hardware but more software based. Has anyone been able to use the MDI and a cracked Tech2Win install to be able to emulate the TechII and its abilities, or is this just redundant and should I go the Tech2 route with a dedicated laptop to run TIS2000. Can anyone with more knowledge of this chime in? Thanks all.

I've used VCX Nano with Tech2win and it has worked pretty well... on my old computer. It kept crashing on my newer computer that I started using 1.5 years ago.

What are your goals/plans for a Tech II equivalent? Sounds like you're going down a bit of a rabbit hole but most C5 owners aren't going to need that level of diagnostic capability especially since you can access all fault codes via the DIC.

Just clarifying the nomenclature. Was that triggering?

We're wondering how you could think "6speed base hatchback" is anything other than a coupe.

You too, huh? ......offended at the notion of clarifying the specific models to a new C5 owner....for their specific year.

Do they think you have two of them and tax accordingly?

Where is the ambiguity in "6speed base hatchback" ?? What is there to clarify?? Regardless, this info isn't at all pertinent to the OP's question.

Tech II is old. No longer required if you go MDI. MDI includes Tech II emulator

I have been researching this and downloading really everything that I can for it regarding cracked Tech2Win. I been looking at the MDI as well as the MongooseProII as apparently it has the same protocol needed to run Tech2Win successfully, according to the saab guys. I will be sourcing a Windows10 laptop and using VMs to make any software work, although many have said that a certain release of Tech2Win and Java make it perfectly compatible on Win10. What is your experience setting it all up as I do want to have GM Dealer Functionality. Thanks.

The old computer I mentioned is Win10. Just followed all the appropriate installation instructions, plus tips as posted by some reviewers on Amazon:
Amazon Amazon
One review mentioned success on Win11 so I'll have to give that a shot some time on my newer laptop.
