Definitive answer on using C6 straight pipe axle back on C5
I have an 01 Z06 i plan on using as a track car. I'm using the Speed Engineering headers and x pipe. I want a simple straight axle back exhaust. Would a C6 straight axle back exhaust like the below clear the back middle storage compartment?

Reason: Misspelling
I will second that no. I recently pulled my diff to replace trans seal, that cubby is a major "in the way" item. So much so that I am eliminating it so I can fit a C6 style exhaust.

I think I'm going to do that. Clean up the area back there.
Right on. It's not rocket science. They just come down and bend to the side. Similar to the old SLP Loudmouth kit. Though they sounded like trash, like a motor boat, until I replaced the factory H with a proper X pipe.
But yes. I've considered cutting the coupe's trunk specifically to use some throw-away C6Z npp pipes. Too bad they're not as quiet as the C5Z titaniums though.
I will be cutting the cubby out of my car next month. Already have all the C6 bits.
OP you might want to look into the Speed Engineering C6 axle back. (it's reasonably cheap also) At least run the small bullet mufflers it comes with over straight piped. I know you said track car but I think you will ultimately hate the straight pipes.

So I'm already running the speed engineering c5 headers and x pipe. I was looking into their c6 axle back exhaust like you say above. Do you or anyone out there know if their c5 x pipe matches up with their c6 axle back?

If you're not running mufflers anyways why not just run turn downs at the end of the x-pipe? You'll want to do a little pipe routing so you aren't blowing hot exhaust on the leaf spring, but that's minor compared to removing the storage compartment
That storage area is nice when I drive my car to the closer tracks for DE! I have a set of SLP straight pipes that I would let go if your interested. I'm on the east coast though... I was just in Sedona last week.

It will not bolt in at all if that is what you are asking. The connections at the transmission are totally different and different pipe diameter.
I am also running SE long tubes and part of their C5 mid pipe.
I bought a 3 inch C6 mid pipe kit and will be grafting the two together to mate up to the 3 inch C6 axle back.
I took the easy way out LGM pro with 3-inch exhaust, and ZO6 titanium mufflers. No way would I chop up the car, to patch together a used C6 muffler. You can do whatever makes you happy.
I would not consider eliminating the cubby as chopping up the car anymore than I would putting an air extractor on the hood. My method will look unmodified from inside the car and better IMO without the dragging diaper look of the cubby from the rear view.
