I have 19K on my 02' Vette. Just recently I noticed the gas gauge to be acting as not to be giving accurate readings. Then about a week ago it just died. A few hours later, it came back to life and still acted strange. I took it to the dealership and they said they "reprogrammed" it. However, it seems to be doing the samething. One moment the car is full, then it shows almost full, then a hour later it is full again???? Any help or suggestions.
Just got back from my dealer with the same problem, (second time). The gas gage went out about a month age and I took it to the dealer and they did the computer reset, after I ask them about senser replacement they said that this was what GM would pay for under the warrenty I ask for senser replacement because of what is being said on this forum and the said they couldn't do it. I told them I would be pissed if I have to come back for a real fix, guess what I returned to the dealer today not a happy camper. This time I was told they would replace both sensers and to leave the car I said no thanks because the last time I left the car it was really a mess when I went to pick it up, now I have to return on Thur for them to fix it. I ask the service mgr maybe they could put a dodge fuel senser in, they seem to work all the time (didn't think it was funny). So when they tell you they will do the computer reset tell them that that is not a real fix and you want the sensers (both sides) replaced. If you don't you will be back. :nopity
Very common problem. Until about a year ago, dealers were replacing the sending units to (temporarily) fix the problem. There is a tsb which reprograms your cars computer. I had this done to my car and it seems to be working ok although I notice more fluctuation on the hud than the actual guage.

Just got mine back from the dealer and they replaced both sides no questions asked. Also fixed the rocking seat problem and the rattle from the gauge cluster that turned out to be the hood stops needing adjustment. A fellow Corvette owner at work said "do not top off the tank". I am not sure if this causes the problem, but I doubt it.
Had the problem with my '02. I noticed that it only happened after buying gas at a particular station. Started buying gas at a different station, haven't had the problem. I know it sounds far fetched but that's my experience. What have you got to lose?

That's exactly what I did too. I used to fill up with Chevron all the time and my gas gage went from bad to worse. ( dropping to 0 , took 15 mins after fill-up to show full, showed half tank while already running on vapor etc....)
I then started filling up with different brands while avoiding Chevron and the problem went completely away after about 5 fill-ups.
More than 20000 miles later, the gas gage works still as new.
it will come and go. use good quality gas, topping off doesnt matter, I found that running it low didn't matter either, mine just seemed to act up on long road trips drop to empty then boom pick right back up a lil bit later. :chevy quality
