HVAC issue
I just bought my first Vette, 98. Love it so far but 2 things. Air is coming out all the vents. It will not change with the controls. Temperature changes fine it’s just the location changing issue. Where should I start with this issue? 2nd issue is a stick/gooey steering wheel airbag cover. Not sure what happened with it lol.

The modes are switched by vacuum and the vacuum source is at the back of the intake manifold. There are many threads on the vacuum line that goes through the firewall broken. There are also threads where the vacuum is good through the firewall but one of the solenoids that controls the mode switching is bad.

Provided there has been no recent maintenance requiring the removal of the intake manifold, the most likely cause is battery acid damage.
